How I Grew The School Of My Dreams And How You Can Do The Same In Half The Time…
It wasn’t until about three years into my school-owning journey that I realised that just teaching great classes wasn’t enough to build a successful school.
Let me tell you, three years is a long time to grind away with little to show for it. It started to feel like I was on a hamster wheel of wake up, spend all the hours in the day working and teaching, get home late, then rinse and repeat.
We’ve all been there right?
At that pivotal moment, I knew I had two options if I wanted to break out of the grind and build the school of my dreams.
- I could figure it out myself through courses and events
- I have someone show me how to do it AKA a coach
While going to events and whatnot would cost a few grand, hiring someone would cost lots of grands. As my school was “cash-poor”, I chose option one.
The course and events were cool, and I learned a lot and grew my school a bit. But, I was still working way too many hours for too little reward and not where I wanted to be.
So, after some soul-searching and the last few thousand in my bank account, I hired a consultant.
The first meeting was a bit of a wake up call and mostly consisted of him wondering how we’d got to this point with such poor systems. But once we’d got over that little hurdle, the difference was night and day. He pinpointed the problems in my gym and gave me the solutions to fix them.
My school exploded and became one of the most successful in the south-west of England. We hit over 380 students, had a bunch of staff members sharing the work load, and I could finally start chasing my BJJ world championship dreams!
Like a cheat code for success…
Since then, I’ve consistently used mentors and experts to grow my business. They’re like a cheat code for success.
Take the most recent group I joined – it’s a high-end coaching group that charges $2000 per quarter.
You wouldn’t believe the level of the people in there. Think folks earning more money in a day than many people in a year, and you’ll be on the right track.
The advice is priceless.
However, that’s not the best part of the group…
At $2k a quarter, I’m damn sure I’m showing up there every week ready to work.
Investing that kind of money makes you committed. It forces you to implement what you’ve learned. It’s insanely powerful.
I make it my mission to use what they teach me, and wow – I’ve seen the difference. It lights a fire under me to get stuff done.
Chels is the same. She’s got a coach, too, and she gets so much out of it, and her projects are zooming along.
Accountability and taking action are two of the most critical factors in success.
When you combine that with expert advice from someone who has “been there and done it” you have a recipe for success.
Why am I telling you this?
It took me years and thousands of pounds to figure out what’s important and how to grow the school of your dreams.
I also know if I had regular accountability and access to the right systems, I’d have gotten there much faster and with more hair.
And I’d have been able to avoid a lot of the hurdles, pit falls, and running backs that cost me time, money, and headaches.
I Wish I’d Had The Bullpen When I Started!
That’s where the Bullpen will help you if you’re looking to grow your school…
You get access to all our best systems, advice on implementing them, and accountability to keep you on track.
Here’s a rundown on what you get as a member of the Bullpen:
- All our kids and adults curriculums (worth £1500+) so you can fill in any gaps in your schedule or start new programmes to increase your income.
- Instructor Training Programme (worth £299) so you can train new instructors to take the load off your schedule.
- All our business management courses (worth £1500+) to streamline your business and grow your school
- Live instructors camp at our gym (worth £1000) so we can get together in person discuss ideas and train.
- One group coaching call per week with Tom/Chels. (£7500+) so you can get answers to any questions you may have, accountability for projects you’re working on, and ideas of where to focus your time.
- Past the Bullpen call recordings (£1000+ value) so you can see what we’ve discussed in the past.
- Access to the WhatsApp group where you can ask me questions whenever you want (Priceless)
- And a bunch of other stuff…
That’s nearly £12,000 of stuff that’ll help you grow your school.
My goal is to add 25% to your bottom line while working 25% less of the time.
The Bullpen is what I wish I had when I built my first gym. You get it for a fraction of the price.
Some of the Bullpen members have had better results than that. For example…
- An instructor in Norfolk, U.K., doubled his school within the first two months of joining and more than doubled his monthly billing check.
- An academy owner in New Jersey, U.S.A., quadrupled the number of leads she had coming into her academy each month and fixed her enrollment problem.
- Another multi-location school owner in New York, U.S.A., systemised his school so he could take time off when his new daughter was born without the stress of worrying about his gym.
- An instructor just down the road from my academy increased his enrolment rate to over 80% with one small change and increased his average member value by 25%.
These results (and more) come down to the three things we talked about earlier – getting the right advice, being held accountable, and doing the work.
So, back to my original question? Do you want to grow the school of your dreams? If the answer is YES and you’re prepared to do the work, then the Bullpen can help.
So how much does it cost?
At this point you’re probably wondering something like “All this sounds awesome, but how much does it cost?”
The Bullpen is easily worth £1000 a quarter (and it will be in the future) and as I said I’ve invest thousands in groups like this before. However, right now you can join for…
£600 / quarter or £50 / week
That’s cheap enough that most instructors can benefit from the Bullpen but expensive enough that you’ll be committed.
The Bullpen is not a get-rich-quick scheme – doing the work and implementing systems takes time.
For example, it took me two months to drop my cost per lead on Facebook ads from £10 to £2, and it took me six weeks to train a group of assistant instructors to take the load off our kid’s programme.
Running a gym is a marathon, not a sprint. However, three months is enough time for you to start seeing results.
Why am I doing this?
I want as many people as possible to benefit from training BJJ. That means they need access to well-run schools.
I have no desire to open a school in every city. But I can help school owners in every city provide an incredible experience to everyone who walks through their doors.
